Living Mind was established in 2012 by Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Arghya Sarkhel and experienced Reflexologist Malini Sarkhel. Living Mind came about as a result of their shared interest in treating patients with a combination of modern and ancient disciplines within medicine; this combination providing a truly holistic approach to health. Living Mind provides a truly unique service, based on years of experience, delivering a combination of orthodox medical treatment and complementary therapies based on scientific evidence with the ultimate intention of 'Making Lives Meaningful'.

Living Mind offers therapy, support and relevant advice for people suffering from various mental health difficulties. Offering diagnoses too, Living Mind brings together multiple disciplines including psychiatry, reflexology, mindfulness-coaching and acupuncture to diagnose and treat a multiple of conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD and dementia. This wealth of experience ensures Living Mind delivers personalised drug-free treatment (where appropriate) for individuals based on their individual needs.

Recent additions to the services of Living Mind include rTMS - a groundbreaking new therapy shown to be highly beneficial in the treatment of a number of conditions from depression, substance-abuse problems, anxiety and many more. The treatment involves placing a treatment coil on the skull next to the area of the brain most associated with controlling the medical or psychiatric condition being treated and inducing small electrical currents in the area of brain to be treated using pulsing magnetic fields. By controlling these currents it can increase or decrease activity in the parts of the brain associated with the condition being treated.

Malini Sarkhel is a fully qualified Reflexologist and has received a national award in the Highly Commended category by the Federation of Holistic Therapists for her commitment, specialist knowledge and skills in Reflexology. Malini has a wealth of experience and specialises in Reflexology for stress and anxiety, depression, back pain, lymph drainage, infertility, pregnancy and cancer care and insomnia.

“Reflexology can improve the overall wellbeing of people’s health as it aids relaxation, improves their sleep and mood, and helps release tension; enabling people to cope during stressful periods of life. Often in my experience, Reflexology helps optimise physical and psychological functioning and provides complementary benefits to psychiatric treatments.”

Malini has a particular interest in treating patients with mental health problems with reflexology.  As well as Dr Sarkhel, she is also trained to conduct rTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) which is shown to be beneficial in the treatment of a number of conditions from depression, substance-abuse problems, anxiety and many more. rTMS services will be available in 2018 and Malini plans to offer a unique approach to rTMS in conjunction with her husband, Dr Sarkhel. Together they will administer rTMS in a therapeutic manner, offering patients the chance to work on their symptoms using a combined methodology of psychiatry, reflexology, acupuncture and mindfulness.

“I believe that our mental health is highly dependent on our physical health and vice versa. As the cause itself is integrated, it needs an integrated and tailored approach to support healthy living. As WHO defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

We also treat many other symptoms. Please refer to our website for more information and prices”
