Ronete Cohen MA, Psychologist and Psychotherapist

Ronete provides open-minded and non-judgmental treatment to members of the LGBT community (in particular bisexuals and transgender people) and those with alternative lifestyles (e.g. polyamory, kink).

She works with adults, adolescents, children and families, going deep to the heart of your problems so that you can change your life for the better. To do this she uses two Experiential Dynamic Therapy (EDT) approaches – Affect Phobia Therapy (APT) and Intensive Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (IE-DP).

LGBT and Kink Aware Therapy in Central London

Ronete is a bisexual therapist who works with individuals, couples, and other types of relationships, to address a wide range of issues, including, but not only: abuse, anxiety, assertiveness, burnout, childhood trauma, depression, dysfunctional families, relationships, self-confidence, self-esteem, sexuality, stress, and trauma.

She helps you deal with your fears and anxieties, and relinquish the defences that stand in the way of your buried emotions. By developing self-compassion you can start the healing process. She has experience and expertise in working with gender and sexual diversity: queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, same sex relationships, kink and non-monogamy.

Work with Families and Children: Find Out What´s Really Going On

Ronete also has considerable experience working with children and specialises in adapting and developing APT and IE-DP for use with adolescents and children.

With children, problems will often manifest themselves in other (often seemingly unrelated) areas. An all-encompassing approach has a higher chance of success. Also, since parents, family and school form an integral part of a child’s world, it’s important for treatment to include them too, whenever necessary.

Ronete also has expertise in educational issues and giftedness and has written a chapter, ‘Using Intensive Experiential-Dynamic Psychotherapy to Treat an Underachieving Gifted Adolescent’, for a book on psychotherapy, ‘The Theory and Practice of Experiential Dynamic Therapy’, edited by Ferruccio Osimo and Mark Stein (published by Karnac in July 2012).

In addition to English (her mother tongue), she speaks Hebrew and Dutch.
